Our Commitment
Medella Home Physio & OT is committed to ensuring that private-physio.co.uk is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of ability or technology. We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA.
Accessibility is an ongoing effort, and we continually review and improve the site to ensure everyone can access the information and services we provide.
Measures We Have Taken
We have implemented the following measures to support accessibility across the website:
- Semantic HTML: Pages are built with meaningful, well-structured HTML elements (headings, landmarks, lists, and labels) so that assistive technologies can interpret content correctly.
- Alternative text: All informative images include descriptive alt text. Decorative images are marked so screen readers can skip them.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements — links, buttons, forms, and menus — are accessible via keyboard alone, with visible focus indicators.
- Colour contrast: Text and interactive elements meet or exceed the WCAG 2.1 AA minimum contrast ratios to ensure readability for users with low vision or colour vision deficiencies.
- Responsive design: The site adapts to a wide range of screen sizes and orientations, and content reflows without loss of information or functionality at up to 400% zoom.
- Site search: A Pagefind-powered search feature is available so users can quickly find content without relying solely on navigation menus.
- Clear link text: Links are written to make sense out of context, helping screen-reader users who navigate by links.
- Consistent navigation: The site uses a consistent layout and navigation structure across all pages to reduce cognitive load.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, some areas may not yet fully meet every WCAG 2.1 AA criterion. Potential limitations include:
- Some older PDF documents may not be fully accessible. We are working to replace these with accessible alternatives where possible.
- Third-party content or embedded elements (such as map widgets) may have accessibility limitations outside our direct control.
We are continually auditing and improving the site. If you encounter any barrier, please let us know so we can address it.
