“With neurological conditions, early and consistent rehabilitation makes an enormous difference. I help people understand their condition, work on what’s possible, and maintain their independence for as long as they can.”
Helena is the Medella team’s specialist for the Lymington and New Forest area. With over a decade of experience in neurological rehabilitation, she’s the go-to physiotherapist for clients with stroke, Parkinson’s disease, MS, and other neurological conditions in this part of Hampshire.
Training & Early Career
Helena graduated with a Physiotherapy MSc from the University of Essex. Her time as a junior physiotherapist was spent in a rotational role across various NHS departments, giving her a solid grounding in general physiotherapy before she moved to specialise in neurology over ten years ago.
Neurological Expertise
Helena has extensive experience working with people with neurological conditions in both the private sector and the NHS. She has worked with patients across the entire stroke pathway—from acute hospital admission through to community rehabilitation—giving her a complete understanding of the recovery journey and realistic expectations for progress.
Parkinson’s Specialism
Helena has a particular interest in Parkinson’s disease. After completing her PD Warrior course, she was responsible for setting up exercise classes specifically designed for people with Parkinson’s. This specialist training means she understands the unique challenges of the condition and the exercise approaches that work best.
Vestibular & Balance Rehabilitation
Helena also has expertise in vestibular rehabilitation—helping people who experience dizziness, vertigo, or balance problems. For many of her neurological clients, balance issues are a significant concern, and Helena’s combined expertise in neurology and vestibular rehabilitation allows her to address these challenges comprehensively.
