“I came to physiotherapy later in life, after a career in music publishing. That experience taught me the importance of really listening to people—understanding their whole story, not just their symptoms.”

Libby brings a unique perspective to the Medella team. She retrained as a physiotherapist following a career in classical music publishing, driven by a desire to provide holistic, evidence-based patient care. Covering the Hampshire area from Salisbury through to Southampton and the New Forest, she combines clinical expertise with genuine warmth and excellent communication skills.

Clinical Experience

Following her qualification in 2008, Libby began her career in an independent rehabilitation hospital, treating a broad range of patients. She gained experience with orthopaedic conditions, neurological rehabilitation, elderly care, chronic fatigue syndrome, and rare genetic disorders. This breadth of experience means she’s comfortable with complexity and isn’t fazed by unusual presentations.

Community Rehabilitation

Libby progressed to a senior position in community rehabilitation, initially specialising in orthopaedic rehabilitation before expanding to include elderly rehabilitation, falls management, and respiratory care. Working in people’s homes taught her how important the environment is to recovery—and how much more effective treatment can be when delivered in familiar surroundings.

Research & MS Expertise

Libby took up a role as a research physiotherapist at a large teaching hospital, focusing entirely on Multiple Sclerosis. She received a National Institute for Health and Care Research pre-doctoral award to complete a Masters in Clinical and Health Research, conducting her own research into diagnosis communication in MS. This research background means she’s always up-to-date with the latest evidence.

Beyond Physiotherapy

In her free time, Libby acts as a Trustee for a national cardiac charity, where she runs an educational podcast for patients. Her love of classical music remains strong—she plays the piano whenever she gets the opportunity. These interests outside physiotherapy give her a rounded perspective and help her connect with clients on a personal level.
